Clinical Evidence

Airdog is not a conventional air purifier.

It is a clinically evaluated air cleaning system supported by regulatory clearance, NHS Innovation validation, and independent real-world testing.

This page provides transparent access to the key evidence and reports supporting Airdog’s performance, safety, and suitability for occupied indoor environments.

Evidence at a Glance

  • FDA-cleared medical air cleaners (X5 & X8)
  • Validated through NHS Innovation bio validation protocols
  • Independently evaluated in an Irish hospital ward
  • Long-term performance tested in real classroom environments (Japan)
  • Supported by the UK Health Innovation Network

FDA Clearance (United States)

FDA-Cleared Medical Recirculating Air Cleaners (X5 & X8)

Airdog is cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Class II medical recirculating air cleaner, intended to remove particles from the air for medical purposes in occupied indoor environments.

FDA clearance confirms that these systems meet stringent safety and performance requirements for medical air cleaning applications.

Independent bench testing submitted to the FDA demonstrated significant reductions in airborne bacteria and effective inactivation of influenza under controlled conditions.

 NHS Innovation Validation (United Kingdom)

Validated Through NHS Biovalidation Protocols

Airdog was included in an NHS Innovation Agency evaluation of air-cleaning technologies, using recognised biovalidation methodology.

Testing demonstrated rapid and repeatable reductions in airborne bacterial contamination under controlled conditions.

NHS Innovation Case Study Publication

The NHS Innovation Agency also published a case study outlining the development of air cleaning validation protocols commissioned by the NHS England Chief Scientific Officer.

This publication includes professional commentary from senior NHS scientific leadership.

NHS Commentary (Published Quote)

“This work has provided the evidence through a scientific study that this technology is safe and effective… providing an invaluable contribution to infection prevention and control…”

Independent Hospital Evaluation (Ireland)

Acute Hospital Ward Evaluation

Airdog has been independently evaluated in an occupied acute hospital ward environment in Ireland.

The evaluation concluded that a “safer cleaner clinical environment” was achieved, supporting the role of air cleaning technology in real-world healthcare settings.

Independent Classroom & Long-Term Performance Testing (Japan)

University-Linked Classroom Evaluation (Japan)

Airdog systems were evaluated in real classroom environments in Japan, including testing of airborne particle reduction and long-term performance after extended equivalent use.

The findings reported that conventional HEPA-based units can experience significant performance decline over time, while Airdog’s washable collection technology showed minimal reduction in effectiveness.

Health Innovation Network Support Letter (UK)

Support from the UK Health Innovation Network

Health Innovation North West Coast (part of the UK Health Innovation Network) has provided innovator support to Airdog over the last two years.

In a formal letter, the organisation confirmed that:

“Through the biovalidation of the Airdog technology in our Liverpool Lab, we know that this technology is very effective at disinfecting circulating air.”

Transparency & Responsible Use

Airdog is designed to support cleaner indoor air environments in occupied spaces.

While independent testing demonstrates significant reductions in airborne contamination under controlled conditions, Airdog should be viewed as part of a broader indoor air hygiene and ventilation strategy.

Airdog is not intended to replace medical care or clinical infection control protocols.
